Fed(very)Ex
Wednesday, May 18th, 2005It has to be said that FedEx rule! I have been impressed by them and other courier companies in the past but this time they have truly outdone themselves… let me explain;
Monday 16th May: 10PM
I order the ‘Big Kahuna’ set of DVD’s from the Luminous Landscape site. I will go into detail about these in another post but essentially a box containing 12 DVD’s is to be posted from Canada.
Wednesday 18th May: 11.04Am
The ‘Big Kahuna’ set of DVD’s arrives at my house!! That is just 37 hours from Order to arrival!!! The package covered approximately 5000 miles. I dont think you could travel much quicker that that!
Well done FedEx… have some pagerank on me!!
Little Britain Spring Regatta - Photos
Monday, May 9th, 2005The Little Britain Spring Regatta was held here in Guernsey this year. With over 30 boats from the UK and Channel Islands there was quite a lot of action out on the water. A few of us headed out on the Sunseeker to watch. Some of the best photographs of the week-end can be found at Encaptured.com. If you were sailing in the Little Britain Regatta, you should check out the pictures as there are some great shots!!

4000 photos and a molten mouse
Friday, January 28th, 2005About a year ago, I purchased the iMatch Image database to catalogue my collection of photos and hopefully allow me to find a particular image quicker. The application is very powerful and completely exceeds my requirements as I dont have enough time to learn about the advanced features. I am sure I have a number of uses for the scripting language it supports, but I have no idea how to use it. The biggest feature that I have wanted to use is the categories view. An image can be assigned to multiple categories that you will have decided upon. I have opted for location, type of image, what and who is in the image.
Yesterday I completed the categorisation of every single photo. I can now click on ‘Mystere’ and see all of the pictures of the boat. I can click on ‘Shane’ and see all photos that have me in them. To further this, I can combine these and select ‘Mystere’ and ‘Shane’ to see all pictures of me on the boat.
I have calculated that the images have an average of 4 categories assigned to them, as I have 4200+ photos, that equates to more than 16,000 checkboxes ticked!! I am off out now to buy a new mouse as my left button has melted!!
Meet my Mini
Wednesday, January 19th, 2005
This is my new car! Its a Tahiti Blue, Mini Cooper Sport and boasts a 1.3 litre multi-point injection engine! I am quite sure we will be hearing lots about the fun and hassles I will be having with this British icon so I have created a new category for it! It has no name yet… Monty was suggested but do any of you have any good ideas!?!?
Build a shed in 30 seconds
Sunday, January 16th, 2005
After two afternoons out in the sun, the shed is finally up and finished! With the help of Dave and Helen, I now have a place to store all my rubbish! To finish the project off, a light has been installed in the shed and a padlock fitted so that no-one steals my goods!! Helen painted the outside and Dave managed to get the garden gate to work properly which helps when I need to get in. For an experiment, I set up my camera to take a photo every 15 seconds during the construction and I used them all to create an animation. If you want a laugh, click the image and have a look. You will need the Flash player to view it but it is quite funny… especially if you have the sound on!! All that needs doing now is filling it up!!
Cold and Windy
Sunday, December 19th, 2004New Camera At Last
Tuesday, December 14th, 2004
Whilst in London, I came accross a camera shop on Tottenham Court Road that was selling the ‘Canon EOS 20D’ for only £20 more than Amazon.co.uk. Rather than wait 4-6 weeks for Amazon to deliver, I bought it there and they even had the Lowepro photo rucksack I wanted and so I bought that aswell!! With any luck, I will be able to get a few test pictures taken over the week-end and I will post them up here for you to view! First impression is that I am going to really like this camera!!
